The first escalation catch-up, the July 2021 catch-up, shows that custom filters are saved within the Saved Search Collection. The original custom filter can be changed or deleted without affecting Saved Search Collections based on that custom filter. You can make many custom filters, apply them to collections and then delete them so your filter list is not cluttered with one-off filters.
